I am going to be an indie hacker. According to my study and understanding of product knowledge, user research in the early stage of product conception plays an important role. However, I feel that the time and money required to invest are quite large, and due to the impact of user research on products and related requirements, it cannot be done quickly by one person. Moreover, the incompleteness of user surveys may cause unreasonable user positioning. So I wonder how do you guys do user research, and how you control costs.
Recently, I was about to create a new product and I used r/SampleSize group Reddit for validating my idea. I got around 100 responses and it helped to see if there is need for it or not.
If the user research is among the early adopters after the product is built, it is absolutely interesting and helpful to meet them one on one. It sets and help to build what is right and what is needed. Most of the blindspots gets solved while speaking to actual customers. I have done about 30 interviews and they were super helpful. It is worth the time.
