Before I ever thought about building an automation company, I was working for two startups. They were very different from each other, but they had one thing in common: both depended heavily on manual work. I was doing everything — copying leads, updating sheets, sending outreach messages, tracking replies, scheduling calls, and preparing reports that needed to go out every single day. None of it was difficult, but all of it was repetitive.
At first, I thought this was just how early-stage companies operated. You grind through the tasks, you keep the process alive, and you don’t think too much about it. But over time, something started bothering me. My days weren’t filled with meaningful work — they were filled with maintenance work. The things that truly needed my attention were buried under small, routine tasks that ate up my time and energy.
The turning point came during a week when both startups needed daily reports updated at the same time. I spent hours switching between tabs, verifying small details, and sending updates that looked nearly identical to the ones from the day before. That week made me realise a simple truth: these processes didn’t require skill — they only required time. And if something only requires time, it can be automated.
