One thing I’ve noticed building TextSlaps:
Most conflict around money isn’t about money.
It’s tone.
When someone asks for rent, the message usually falls into one of 3 buckets:
Too soft → ignored
Too aggressive → defensive reaction
Too long → confusing
The middle ground is clarity + neutrality.
For example:
“Just checking in regarding this month’s rent. Per our agreement it was due on the 1st. Please confirm when payment will be made.”
No emotion. No apology. No threats.
