How to balance your work, life and passion ?

For indiehackers who works full time and have also created successful side projects in their free time, how do you manage your working and personal life ?

By managing both work and personal I also mean, how did you convince your family to take some time off and build something useful?

I feel, if I'm doing something in my free time at home, I'm also taking some time off from spending time with family. So, is that ok if I follow my passion by taking some time off from my personal life ?

In spite of the above constrains, I come across people who are quite successful in launching awesome products. So is there is so much to learn from members of this community.
