How to be safe when hiring a freelancer to maintain your servers?
Hi,
I'd like to hire a server guy who will take care of my servers (updates, security issues, etc..) and wonder how can I be safe there since I will give him root access?
Anybody faced the same problem?
Will it help to hire a company to take care of a server instead?
Higher someone on CodeMentor to teach you to do it yourself. I paid ~$100 worth of lessons and was able to use Heroku in about 2-3 hours. I'm comfortable with it now. Granted I come from the tech side, but it's quite simple.
Unless you're saying that you don't have time to manage yourself and you're looking for a freelancer... than yea, best reputation.
As someone who has often worked on servers for clients, there basically is no 100% guarantee other than trust. Don't piss off your server dev :)
