How to become a wizard and other startup incorporation struggles 🪄

Hey Indie Hackers! I'm building migroot.io—a service that simplifies the process of gathering documents and preparing visa applications. Lately, we've been getting a sensitive but reasonable question from our early users:

"What’s the legal status of your company?"

I get it. They want to know they're dealing with a legit business. But damn, I was really hoping to delay this bureaucracy a bit longer!

So, here I am, trying to figure it out.

I’m based in Brazil, and initially, I thought opening a microbusiness would be the easiest option until we hit significant revenue. But then I found out you can register as an astrologer, a tourism manager, or even a wizard… but not as anything IT-related. Turns out, for tech startups, the only options are more complex (and expensive) company structures.

So, where did you guys incorporate your first startup?
What’s the best setup when you’re just starting out, have a few clients, and don’t want to burn money on taxes and maintenance fees?
