How to build a legit audience on Twitter as an Indie hacker

In the past 18 months, I have built a legit audience on a few Twitter accounts ( 20k & 50k )

Had 10k+ launches

Written over 30k tweets

So I kind of know how the bird app works and I want to share the hacks with you all

We all know how important it is to build an audience

But what's more important is to build the right audience

And have the credibility among them as well

Yesterday I had a look at a few indie hackers account

they were doing some things completely wrong

Here is how you can avoid those mistakes & grow well

1. No hashtags in BIO

Bio is like your tagline

It is the CTA that determines your conversion

I looked at a few accounts yesterday

Some had hashtags in it

Don't do it

Understand that initially

You have to give people a reason to follow you

Here is the simple format you can use

“I am ( my post ). Something cool which you have done or currently doing

( raised money , hit a revenue mark , building something)

. What kind of tweets I can expect “

its that simple

Everything is covered in it

“ Java script developer. Building @XYZ. Tweets on marketing building in public selling “

That's it

I have tested it on multiple accounts it just works

Now this is the easy part

let's come to something important

How to grow? your account

2. The growth

Initially

The main engine for getting followers is to leverage other people's audience

How you can do it

ENGAGING

Make a list of 15 accounts

Accounts whose audience you want to have

Start engaging with their tweets

And you'll start getting profile visits from their audience

Don't post comments like

Agreed

Yes

No

Post something value giving which resonates with people

so that they can click your profile

Meanwhile, keep posting tweets

3. How to write better tweets

Above anything else

You have to write in a way that can be read easily

If you have observed closely

I am not writing this and this and this & this

I am writing like this

Just this

Got it

Write in a well-spaced manner

b) List works

things you should do before the new year
-X
-Y
-Z

Things like this are easy to read that's why they work

Use them

c) Write tweets that start with YOU

Cause people care about themselves

" You must be too dumb to believe that you can't learn to code "

Got it

Next comes THREADS

I have written over 300 threads for various people

And nothing works better than them

for growth, credibility, getting viral & establishing authority

How do write them?

NO that's not the hard part

The hard part is how you convince people to read them

Cause people drift off after the first tweet

I guess I am writing too much

Let’s keep " Threads " for another time

That's it for this post guys

I love this community

If you have any problem regarding

Growth
Engagement
Influence

Just reach out to me

I would love to help you out

And if you are too eager for the “thread” POST

Again dm me I'll send it to you

Happy Building

You used weird formatting, but content is nice :) I haven't used threads as often, should post them consistently.

    1. 1

      It happens

When you use twitter 24 * 7 brother

    2. 1

Hey Denis, do you schedule you threads before or post them directly?

      1. 1

I post them directly because I come up with them spontaneously. I know you can schedule threads in Typefully or Tweethunter. I'm paying for FeedHive cause it has LinkedIn.

        1. 1

Got it, we at sociomata.com are planning to add LinkedIn as well. Currently, it is only Twitter.

          1. 1

I wish you put more info about your product, this would certainly boost your sign up rate.

            1. 1

I concur and that's why we plan to update the landing page in January with more details.

    Hey, thanks for the advice!

I'm also looking to grow my latest project's Twitter profile, and I was wondering how many times a day were you posting something on TW and how much time did everything take you per day? This includes engaging with other people's content, finding things to respond to, coming up with content, etc.

    I'm really curious.

    1. 1

      Hey brother

I would say initially 0-2k you must focus heavily on engaging ( min 20 replies under the accounts of same niche )

And you should post minimum 10 tweets a day

Choose a number you can stick to

And do it daily cause every social media 's algo loves consistency

      1. 1

        Thanks for the reply!

I've read multiple times that consistency is key, but it's difficult.

Especially with the numbers you've mentioned, it seems like a very time-consuming effort.

I guess one of my new year's resolutions will be to be more active on Twitter and grow my audience!

        1. 2

          I will not gonna lie

          it is hard

          But the bigger truth is

          Its worth it as well

          BTW dropped you an email

          1. 1

I'm glad to hear that it's worth it!

I'll get to your mail ASAP!

So far what I found is Twitter is the best platform to build an engaging audience.

I have started my journey in 2020, I didn't know anything about growing a Twitter account haven't taken a course at that time.

What made me do it, I saw people are making money.

I know that is the wrong approach.

So I started pasting links and trying to sell them.

    nothing works.

But later learned from people who have done it.

So now I am happy about my phase now.

    this is what changed me.

~ I should give more value than asking from people. ~

Hope you all are having a good.

    Happy New Year to all.
    Let's grow together sharing knowledge.

  7. 1

So basically twitter likes it when you keep it simple?

    1. 2

The algo loves you when you show up daily

their are some basic laws of building an online audience too brother

  8. 1

Thanks Naman. I am building my audience on twitter and i only have 10 followers.

I like the idea if leveraging ither ppl audience to support yours.
