Who is the person you’re talking to? Where do they hang out? What language do they speak? What problems do they have? What things have they tried before but didn’t work? How do they prefer to consume content (written, video, podcast)? Etc...
You really want to get a deeeep understanding of your ideal customer so you can create content that resonates and will get traction sooner.
One thing you absolutely DON’T want to do is create content you THINK your audience would love to see and posting it on some random channel because you like Facebook better than YouTube (for example)
The goal of content is to INCREASE your positioning in the market, which by extension focuses on changing the perception your audience has of you.
Think of someone you follow (influencer / coach) and look at your perception of them, they have achieved that perception by virtue of positioning themselves in a certain way. That’s it.
You want to “inspire” and “educate” your audience on solutions to the problems they’re facing.
People need to know, like, and trust you before they will even consider doing business with you. You can build this ‘relationship’ through your content.
50% = Useful insight / value content
Positioning yourself as the market expert / domain authority / vertical expertise is the most important thing to ensuring your audience sees you as the best person to go to in order to achieve their desired transformation. The best way to ramp your authority / expertise is to push useful insights + value content.
25% = Personal content
Showing my personal life is something I never use to do as I thought value content drove 100% of sales and while it drives the majority of sales, one thing I learned was that it doesn’t drive 100% of them. Allowing your audience to connect with you on a personal level does a few things: 1. It builds a deeper level of trust and 2. They feel like they know you and they’ll resonate more with you (know, like and trust).
25% = Action-based content
You don’t want to become the person who is always doing CTAs as it’ll weaken your audience and ironically lower the No. of people who take action during the month. However, action-based content is something people often forget about which is usually why they don’t see a good number of booked calls + customer signups each month. Although you may be positioned as the niche expert and you’re audience perceives you as the best option to learn from, 90% of them won’t take action unless you ask them to. This is where action-based content comes into play.
Once you start posting content (practice makes perfect, just start!) you NEED to be consistent with posting. Either that is daily, 3 times a week, 2 times a week, or once per week. You want to keep that schedule.
Social Media loves people who post consistently and daily. They are way more likely to push your content to new people if you keep on doing this and keep on getting good feedback.
So,
Do your research,
Create content your ideal customers wants to see,
Post different types of content,
Do so consistently,
Those 1,000 fans will show up in no time
