How to build your app while full-time and with kids?

Someone here with the same situation? It would be really helpful .

I have 4 kids and a full time job.
I found out that trying to work on things at the evening after the small kids are gone to bad is really not efficient, because I'm already too tired and can't focus.
Instead, I wake up at 5:00, work on my projects till 7:00 when the kids have to wake up for school, and I try to go to sleep at 22:00-23:00 so I have at least 6-7 hours sleep.

Morning time is quiet with no distractions and I can focus because I'm not tired.

It took me some time to get used to the idea to wake up early, because I am more of a night person. But with kids I don't have much of a choice. Once I acknowledged that this is the best option for me, it wasn't hard at all to implement it.
Some times I have to tell myself not to get tempted to work in the late evening. Instead I need to go to sleep and in the morning I'll be able to do the same tasks that I wanted, much more efficiently.

Wow, yes, I have carved out time in the mornings too. But sometimes it seems not enough, even when it is still progress.

Don't have kids. But I'm currently a uni student, have a full tie job and building by SAAS on the side.
    Does that count?? 🤔

I put my two kids to sleep then start hacking away till the wee hours. Unhealthy, I know, but I'm not an early riser for the life of me.

Thanks for sharing. Yes, sometimes we need to find that balance and sometimes is almost impossible.

Hey there - in the same place. I work a 9-5 and have 3 children. It's tough no other words to say really. I agreed with my wife some time that I get to spend on my projects and that's what I stick to - gives me the time to focus.

I've also setup my own website to keep myself publicly accountable for my targets and I joined a virtual co-working space to help keep me motivated.

I also started a Twitter list of people working 9-5 and Indie Hacking to connect with people with the same challenges...(if you give me your Twitter handle I'd love to add you!)
