As a startup, getting a testimonial from a happy client is a great way to improve your social proof. But getting testimonials... Easier said than done. Reaching out can be uncomfortable. I've mastered the art of getting testimonials, so I wrote a blog to help other founders.
What is your opinion on incentivizing customers to leave a testimonial? For example, giving them 50% off next month or maybe even for free? I have heard mixed opinions, but I am just curious what you think.
I think if you're just starting out, it can be an effective way to build some social proof.
Although, if you're more established and still struggling to get testimonials, it may still help but I would imagine there are some deeper issues with your product or customer satisfaction.
In regard to how much of a discount you should provide, that is very dependant on your pricing model.
One thing I would watch out for is giving too much of a discount. Not only do you want to collect testimonials, but you also want them to feel genuine (that's what shines through to your prospect customers). So by offering too large of a discount, you risk people just leaving a testimonial for the sake of getting the discount and less focused on providing genuine praise.
I appreciate the question, Blake!
Really enjoyed this, I appreciate you providing a template :)
