Crafting a resume that grabs attention in today’s competitive job market can be daunting. While platforms like NyquistTech’s ResumeMaker offer helpful templates, true resume optimization requires strategy. Here’s how to build a high-impact resume quickly—backed by hiring trends and ATS (Applicant Tracking System) insights.
Use a clean, single-column layout (ATS-friendly).
Prioritize sections: Contact Info > Professional Summary > Work Experience > Skills > Education.
Avoid graphics or tables—they often break ATS parsing.
Mirror job description keywords (e.g., if the role requires "Python," include it verbatim).
Quantify achievements (e.g., "Increased efficiency by 30%" vs. "Improved processes").
Power verbs: "Led," "Optimized," "Developed" > "Responsible for."
❌ Weak: "Managed social media accounts."
✅ Strong: "Grew LinkedIn followers by 150% in 3 months via data-driven content strategy."
Remove irrelevant roles/skills (e.g., a software engineer need not list "bartending").
Adjust your professional summary to match the job (e.g., "Cybersecurity Analyst" vs. "IT Professional").
✅ Spelling & grammar (Grammarly/Word’s built-in tool).
✅ File format: Save as PDF (unless the job posting specifies DOCX).
✅ Name your file professionally: FirstName_LastName_Resume.pdf.
ATS compliance: 75% of resumes are rejected by ATS before human review (Source: Jobscan).
Hiring managers skim resumes in 6-7 seconds (The Ladders Study). A clear, achievement-driven format ensures you make the cut.
Pro Tip: Use NyquistTech’s ResumeMaker to draft a base resume, then refine it with these strategies for maximum impact.

Thanks for sharing this! I’m in the middle of validating a very specific pain point for marketers (around managing data manually), and seeing your process helps me refine my own.
How did you handle user interviews early on? Any tip that helped you go from "interesting idea" to real feedback?
Good problem you are working on. I generally go by data, more searches may be tens of millions of search for a keyword asking for a service via smartweb. I solve for them as it already has a demand. If i can provide some value thier hopefully it will work out but I have created a direct feedback mechanism too within the product on a scale of 1-2 what was the experience for the users who used the product.
Yes! That's pretty good! The problem here is that we are actually pre-producto.. So, we need to interview users to define our ACP... So, it's more challenging.. But we are trying so! Thanks for the advice!
That's one of those posts I wish I came across years ago, haha. Well done :)
Great post—these resume tips are really on point! I especially appreciated the emphasis on quantifying achievements and tailoring the professional summary; those details truly make a difference. As a student, I’ve noticed that tracking academic performance accurately helps in showcasing skills effectively on a resume. Have you come across any strategies for highlighting academic achievements, especially for recent grads with limited work experience?
Yes. We have a custom section in our form where you can select Awards and Achievements to attach and showcase in your profile.

Great observation. Depends on the domains too. A lot of domains where the project stints are short. Summary gives a nice overview to the recruiters to get an idea of the overall profile.
