How to create an MVP launching site for a B2B product in the wine industry?

Hi everyone,

We are developing a wine recommendation engine and already starting a pilot with our first client (not paying).

At the same time, I got advice to launch a website with a brief description of the product and "tell me more" button to research how much interest there is in the wine industry.

Do you think, despite the fact we already have one interested client, we should launch such a website? Would you have an example of this for a B2B business?

Thanks!

I agree with @msencenb that landing pages to gauge demand work a lot better in B2C. However, I still think you should do it.

Landing pages are cheap, and easy to put together. Spending one afternoon you can easily get a decent landing page up and going.

You want to do this because potential customers will take you a lot more seriously if you have a website. Also for SEO reasons, the older the website the better it will rank. So it’s best to get a start now.

I haven’t used it, but I hear a lot of people have good things to say about @volkandkaya landing page builder. I’d give that a try.

Good points and probably the right call. It won't hurt to have a professional looking landing page and it probably will help.

Just make sure to keep your B2B goals in mind (look professional, build seo) rather than trying to use it as a demand generation tool like most people in the B2C space.

I don't think that's necessary in this case.

Launching a website to gauge demand is a lot more effective with B2C apps. In the B2B world, you are much better off spending time figuring out how to get in front of wineries in a synchronous fashion (phone call, video chat, product demo, etc). Do you have a sense for what the sales cycles and lengths looks like for this industry?

Not sure how important it is, but my product is actually B2B2C. Would in this case a launching site help?

By B2B2C do you mean that your app will also target wine drinkers and you need them too? Or is this a wine recommendation tool wineries can put on their own website, in which case visitors may not even know you exist?

the latter (i am targeting wine e-commerce companies, not wineries).

Thanks, @msencenb. Appreciate your comment! It's a great suggestion, so far i am looking for potential clients through Linkedin Sales Navigator. I am just getting a feeling in terms of sales cycle and length which also very much depends on a business culture per country.
