How to create effective B2B content for your SaaS company

One of the most used lines in B2B is: B2B content is boring.
Now, is this true? Not sure. I've read a lot of transformative B2B content. But this is sure; if you plan to use your website' blog as a lead acquisition channel, you can't afford to produce "boring" content.

Here's a simple framework to create that'll drive pipeline for your SaaS brand. It's called the SEE framework -- short for Show, Educate, and Empower.

✅ Show: Effective SaaS content doesn't just tell a prospect about your product. It shows them what they stand to gain from using it. Here's how to make it happen with your content.

  1. Lead with your product. Include screenshots, GIFs, and videos in your content. Let your prospects see what your product does.

  2. Stop using stock images. Invest in good designs. This adds an air of sophistication to your content. Plus, illustrative designs can be used to amplify a point (remember, show).

  3. Make your content story-driven. This doesn't mean fiction. Find a compelling narrative for your content and show your prospects why they should care about it.

✅ Educate: Your content pieces should also be educational. Here's how to make it so.

  1. Develop a deep understanding of your ICP. Create an ICP StoryScript to bring your ICPs to life.

  2. Narrow your content focus. Always target one topic and one ICP per content piece.

  3. Choose simplicity over verbosity. Don't make your prospects reach for the dictionary every time they read your content.

✅ Empower: You want your prospects to take action after reading your content pieces, right? Use these tips to push them towards that goal.

  1. Write compelling headlines. How many times have you decided not to read an article on Google because its headline didn't sound promising?

  2. Use psychological principles like loss aversion, primacy, and regency effect to guide your prospects. Loss aversion prompts readers to take action by showing them what they stand to lose. Primacy and Regency effects leverage our tendency to easily remember items at the beginning or end of a list.

  3. Provide a clear CTA. Your CTA should clearly state what you want your prospect to do.

I got a newsletter from Darren Rowse of Problogger a few days ago and he said: "One of the common mistakes I see in many [content] is that they are quite simply unremarkable." The SEE framework pushes you one step closer to creating remarkable B2B SaaS content.
