How to deal with duplicated idea?
I've had an idea for an app for a while. Like, almost at year. I have a POC and everything. Life happened. The idea got tabled. And then BOOM, someone popped up with the exact same idea. They launched and now are ranked high on Product Hunt.
Has anyone else dealt with this? What did you do next? Did you still launch? Was it as successful? How are you dealing with it now?Is it too late? I have a feeling what will be said but how do you deal with that? It's definitely a learning moment for me but I'm definitely beating myself up because of this.
I have been through something like this couple of times and I didn't do anything, literally stopped with the idea lingering in my head. Now what I have realized is - sometimes there's enough room in terms of the market to share the space. My idea was more to do with Service, Productized Service so not sure if the same would apply to your idea.
The positioning of the product, customer service etc. There are a lot of things to differentiate right?. Even though both would do the same thing but still there could be extra features etc. I don't know I haven't launched any of the ideas that's already gone big so I might not be the right person to answer this but my two cents :P
