How to determine which social network to use?

I am not aware of any tools that can help, but I think you have to work this one out for yourself (or hire someone to do for you) as it highly depends on the product / service you're selling.

As @Jakepryszlak mentioned, it's important to know where your potential target audience hangs out. However, I think this should be on a more detailed level than just asking yourself "Where do DJs hang out?". You can find DJs on Instagram, on TikTok, and on Twitter. The difference might be in the age range and / or other factors. E.g. younger DJs spend more time on TikTok while older DJs spend more time on Twitter and etc.

Don't forget to take into consideration the content you're going to provide. If you're not willing to create entertaining video content targeted at Gen Z, you're probably going to have a hard time on TikTok.

Also do some research on algorithms. How different social networks push content to users. E.g. some social networks tend to downgrade the content if it's not organically filmed, or if it contains dark colors, negative words and etc.

To narrow social networks even further, consider ad managers. So if you're planning to run some sort of ads in the future, research pros and cons of different social networks. For example, would it be easier to target your audience using Facebook or Twitter ads? Is the avg. CPM / CPC works for your pocket? Is the ad manger itself not over complicated / clunky?

1. Understand where your audience go, their go to types of content they read and engage with. You need to create a persona of your ideal audience

2. Create and distribute a survey to understand your target audience more. Maybe using www.survey101.io 😉
