2 mo ago I started the @makerofhabit newsletter from scratch.
Since then, I've lined up 10 GREAT guests the likes of @damengchen, @threehourcoffee & @KennethCassel.
How did I get these awesome people to take the time for my new, tiny, no-one-cares-yet newsletter?
3 things 👇
1. Make the ask as simple and easy to do as possible
- For Maker of Habit, I ask them to simply reply to the twitter message with their 3 habits
- I only ask one good question
- Responding via DM is seamless. No form, link, or formatting to deal with
2. Leverage + build relationships
- Think about who you already know or have talked to before that you could ask
- If you don't know someone yet, follow and engage with them in order to get on the radar.
Example: Here's how I got on @damengchen's radar: https://twitter.com/bagelsangranola/status/1461072202594324482?s=20
3. Ask previous guests for referrals
- I ask every guest, "Who would you like to see featured?"
- Then I can say "so-so was featured and mentioned they would like to see you next"
- This makes this would-be "cold-out reach" a little "warmer" 😉☀️
That's it! Those are my secrets.

I think an arsenal of social media also help! Social media gives further credibility to a newsletter imo
