Hey guys, this is my first post here, I don't know exactly what I am looking for from the community, just want to get this out
I was laid off last November from the company I was working for, I am a senior software dev with full stack experience, so I can build different apps without a sweat.
I have been following indie hackers since the beginning of 2022 and listened already to uncountable podcasts about how to create your SaaS/business, but is almost the end of Jan 2023 and I couldn't land on 1 idea and I am getting very frustrated
Does anyone relate to that? I feel that I have no other option than to work for other companies to make money.
How did you guys start to give the first step?
Do you want to go indie? I think that's the main question. Because going indie means you will need to do almost everything by yourself, not just the “app building” part. Are you interested in sales, marketing, ops, logistics, business, accounting? Those will be a part of the journey.
Our fellow hacker Malte has a nice piece about finding the optimal niche for you, which might be relevant if you prefer to go the indie way: https://www.indiehackers.com/post/how-to-find-the-optimal-niche-5e1825b8a3
That is a great article, thanks! I am the classic case where I can build but dont know mkt and sales, so probably will try to connect to someone that is good on that
I feel exactly the same, just don't know how to go about finding a market that I'd like to work with, let alone an idea. It's kind of frustrating, I wanted to learn software development because I liked the idea of building things, but now that I know how I can't find ideas.
I hope someone can give some advice to both of us!
