How to get the right clients asking for your service

“I don´t know how to translate what i do to people”.

That´s what I heard in an interview before she became a client.

People graduate without knowing how to sell what they know. I went through the same and amazingly, I studied marketing in college.

One of the causes is educational, but it is not the main one.

The main two reasons are:

  1. You don't know how to identify the pains and problems that your audience seeks to solve and...

  2. You don't know how to properly explain their problem and how your service and product solves or alleviates these pains.

Once you know how to do these two things, you'll have more people looking for your services rather than simply liking your content.

Gurus talk a lot about ways to create content on the internet, formulas for ads that go viral, the right posts to make the algorithm work for you etc...

These are tactics. Tactics serve to optimize or leverage your business.

Tactics without the strong foundation of knowing what and how you sell and who you sell to, will never sell. It's like trying to use your car key to open your front door.

In the beginning you don't need all this complication, you need to be clear about what you do, who you do it for and the service that solves that person's pain. You can't expect someone to understand or buy something that even you're not clear about, right?

Would love to read your thoughts in the comments below.

    Hey theeduardotorres,
True true. I would only add that in the beginning it's very helpful to choose your niche - the more narrow the better. That way you know who you're talking to and what pain points they have. And also where you'll find these people. Most of the successful companies were niche solutions in the beginning (Facebook - Harvard students, Microsoft - geeks...).

Hey @Marek_spacetime_ooo! That´s totally true and some solid advice. Many people struggle with that.
