How to get your first SAAS customer

Hello IndieHackers!

I'm doing Gumroad's 14 day product challenge and I'm trying to write the most useful and actionable guide on how to get your first SAAS customer.

Indiehacking (And IndieHackers) has changed my life. Building a startup is hard and finding your first customer is the first essential step. This is the guide I wish existed when I was first starting out.

See the planned outline below, and let me know if you think anything is missing and if it makes sense

Outline v1

  1. Introduction — What to expect
  2. Overview — An outline of the simple iterative process to getting your first SAAS customer
  3. Your Hypothesis
  4. The Process
    • Build your vehicle — Create an enticing and self-validating piece of content
    • Set your hook — Get attention, traction, and real users
    • Do things that don't scale — Dig in, iterate, and land your first SAAS customer and beyond
  5. Advice from real hackers and founders

The goal of this is to give people an actionable process to getting their first saas customer. There are tons of guides and resources on how to build and grow a startup but no one talks about getting that first customer.
