Here are a couple ways I use to get my first users in a matter of hours...
Find subreddits where your target users hangout and ask them for feedback for your product. You can also write a nice relevant post and plug your product.
IH
Write a post offering valuable content and plug your landing page. I do that very often with my wannabe entrepreneur podcast :p
Answer Comments
You can do this in IH, Reddit, LinkedIn, Twitter and Quora. Just use the search options to find posts with your keywords and give a relevant answer where you plug your product.
Pro Tip: Search for the "share your product" threads
Show HN
Hacker News is always a gamble but is really easy to just share a link there and normally you will always get a few users.
Write a post about your product. This is a great way to reach to your close network.
Entrepreneurs Community
Join active bootstrapper communities like the WBE Spaces and ask for feedback on your product
DMs
Send direct messages to your friends and peers in your apps target group asking for feedback.
Spend two hours doing these tips and you will have your first users. Let me know if you have any further tips.
Cheers
I think paid ads are also an option, you'll get users within hours. I often use paid ads to get a few people trying it so I can iron out bugs and validate if it's something people want.
Sadly I've never been able to make money while running paid ads.
I tried paid ads many times and for me, it always feels like a scam. I get a bunch of what I can only assume are bots and spend a lot of money in a heart beat
What are some Reddit pages you would suggest to grow a product?
It really depends on your product but I normally go to EntrepreneurRideAlong and SideProject
Great information shared by you. Waiting for something new from your end.
Glad you like it :) I often tweet about bootstrapping, here is my twitter in case you are interested.
