Heya!
As the title suggest, I've been tumbling a bit with the question in the title.
I enjoy working on sideprojects, and always seem to do so. But between that and being a busy CTO at my day-job, I really started thinking about how to best use my time.
Not in terms of "how can I be a 10X developer" or "how can I be more productive", but because in our business we have customers knocking on our doors daily, requesting features, bugfixes etc. while we have internal development ideas both from the organization as a whole, but also on how to improve development experience.
All things that boil down to our development department; at least in the case of my day to day job.
As we now have a slowly growing team (just became 3), I now have 2 individuals to assign tasks to and it's starting to prompt a question along the lines of "how can I become a better delegator in order to maximize our output, without the work (necessarily) being done by me?".
I'm really interested in growing our product as fast as possible, to be the best possible product it can be.
Honestly, I just want to provide value. To our customers. To my team. To my developers.
Between the constant onslaught of ideas and things to work on - not to mentioned changing priorities - I'm really struggling to find the 'next right thing' to work on.
Are there other of you as busy leaders or in a similar situation where you had to spend time learning how to identify the next "high value thing to do"?
