New project I've launched with a couple of paid customers and doing daily calls! Want to try and grow service (eventual goal is to build software to empower coaches and improve accountability). Would love feedback on -
- Is what I'm offering clear? I've been trying to target freelancers / people with unstructured time
- What kind of CTR should I be targeting? I just recently switched to a calendly link rather than payment
- How can I better build trust on a landing service like this?
This is pretty interesting, probe.
A way to get more accountability and expand possibilities by having someone call and check in.
I'm not sure the CTA is the right one. I'll have to think about it. Something about not knowing who I'll be talking to as an anxiety.
To build trust: One way is to make it obvious that you understand what state they're in by the time they discover your service. You can do that by mirroring back to them the feelings/thoughts they might be going through as they get to the page. I call that style of writing struggle-first pages and here's one example from my site.
That's my best bet for building trust for your kind of service: mirror the struggle.
The struggle? On your page right now you're communicating the solution and what I'd call the aspiration (get more accountability/get back on track). On the other hand, communicating the struggle is about saying stuff like: "You've tried to-do lists and reminders, but it ain't cutting it anymore." "You used to have the push from teammates... that is, when you had teammates. But now you're freelancing, and you've been trying to manufacture the push. It's not working."
See what I mean?
And it doesn't have to be just one struggle, you can use "maybe" statements to communicate less frequent, offshoot-struggles
"Maybe a freelancer peer you relied on for the push has just joined a company. You no longer have that friend to keep you accountable." See how it's a far-fetched example, but for the person for whom this actually happened, they'll be responding with a "yes! I feel understood!"
Am I on the right track here with this advice?
You don't have to overhaul your page to make key changes, maybe just add a struggle-mirroring section near the top, or make it the language you use right in the top section. Here are other minimal changes you can make to your page.
The other way to build trust, and it's a contentious idea: help them do it themselves. Your main competitor is your buyers doing it themselves.. So help them out anyway. At the very bottom of your page, right below a final call to action, point them to a guide of some sort -- it could be a paid guide too, a $15 ebook or something -- where you show them how to get accountability and simulate coach questions on their own. The worst thing that will happen is people won't buy the guide. The best thing that will happen is that they'll feel you're an authority on the subject (ie. trust will be built), start learning the language of coaching, start seeing some successes and start yearning for an actual person to talk to again.
This was AMAZING feedback, thank you! Have learned a lot from customers since launch and actually just revamped the site.

What do you think of it now out of curiosity?
Real quick, I like this bit of copy: "You've tried apps, books, and "self-control" to get stuff done". It's obviously true to the person who's in that situation, it screams "you're in the right place".
Best of luck, probe!
