How to know when it's time to delegate?

Sooner or later, if your online business grows, you'll need to delegate. But how to identify those tasks that are draining all your energy and blocking you from taking your business to the next level?

As leaders, sometimes we forget that delegation mean more time to focus on high-priority tasks like product development, or building valuable connections in the industry. Otherwise, chances are you’ll experience entrepreneurial burnout someday. We also need time to develop and implement new strategies while keeping everyone on the same page.

But it is also true that sometimes the budget isn't enough to cover all the tasks that need to be done frequently. So, how do you manage delegation when just getting started?

To force me to notice when a task needs delegation, I pay attention to three signs 👇

Signs to know when it's time to delegate

  1. You can't meet your deadlines: Your schedule is tight, and you feel overwhelmed by all the tasks waiting for you.
  2. You do repetitive work and can't focus on innovation and leading your team.
  3. The job requires expertise you don't have.

And classified the tasks that must be delegated, which are:

  1. Blog/copywriting
  2. Social media schedule
  3. Data entry
  4. Customer service.

Which are the tasks that are holding you back from growth?

Good article, but I don't agree with the finish. My 2 issues:

    1. It's time to delegate when you spend what feels like way too much time on tasks that somebody else probably can do better, faster or simply cheaper than you and when there are things that are more important than the things you waste time on.
    2. Delegate things that somebody else can do for you so that you can focus on stuff only you can do or should do. In my case, even if I am the CEO, I also do all customer support and all marketing-related things, because I decided that this is important enought for the company that it warrants my focus (it's part of our overall strategy). You do you.

Check out the Eisenhower Matrix (google it) for a time-tested approach to delegation.

I didn't about Eisenhower Matrix, thanks for the input.

    Good one Gaston.

    Here's my structure to delegate:

    1. If none in my startup knows how to do this task:
      A. I do the task N times to identify the process well.
      B. Document the process, and pitfalls.
      C. Before delegating, have the assignee be with me while I do the task.

    2. If some of them already know the task:
      A. Delegation saves my time, okay. But is this task an efficient use of their time?
      B. Can this be outsourced with no loss of quality
