How to monitor your remote team?

Hi all,

I have made a FREE tool to effectively monitor remote working team if you are a manager or business owner or a startup founder that already have some people working for you. I name it "Timy".

Timy is a multi-purpose time tracker that records the duration working time and screenshots of remote team computers.
This way, initially it's aimed for business owners who have remote employees to monitor them and make them accountable.

What problem do you think you are solving? Who is the target group / ICP?
Also, in many countries it is illegal to monitor employees like this.

Hi Jan, thank you for the response. Initially I'd like to solve the problem of business owners not able to monitor their remote freelancers. There are bad freelancers not working on the project they supposed to work, instead working on other projects while sending the bills to all projects. Or they work, but not focus, for example a little bit of working, then opening social media, and other distraction things on the computer. This makes the clocked hours are more than it supposed to be. But then in the middle of development, I got question from an acquaintance, if I know any software to monitor her students doing class examination in the midst of covid. Then I realized, this problem can also be solved by the exact same solution.

So currently, I am trying to gather insights how people are responding to this kind of tool/solution. It has for sure the capability of time tracking. And it also has screen capturing capability. The use cases can be wide.

I heard some employees resistant of this kind of solution with privacy reason writing on the internet. That's why I made the screen capturing in a blur. I am still not sure of the reason some countries forbidding this kind of tool. Do you have something I can read? Or can you share your knowledge on this? If it's really a privacy, then the question how can we better prevent the employees causing loss of business owners? Isn't this also a serious subject?

      Many thanks!

Usually, if people don't perform they sooner or later loose their job.

Monitoring employees like this needs to have a solid legal basic (employment contract, local laws, etc.), but I don't know anyone who would be insane enough to agree to this level of monitoring.

Also, freelancers usually have their own equipment, so making them install something on their own devices so that you can monitor them? Sounds like a big no-no to me. Massive red flag if any body I work with would ask that from me.

There is probably a market for this (there is one for everything), but I'd stay away from it due to questionable morals and ethics around this kind of software. I'd put more effort into hiring the right people instead, so that I can trust people that they do their job.
