How to Nail Your Ecommerce Marketing Strategy in 2022

Are you interested in securing more sales in 2022? If so, you're not alone. Business owners and marketing teams across all industries want their brands to succeed.

Thanks to digital marketing, we have more possibilities than ever before to connect with visitors and turn them into loyal customers. The thing is, the world of digital marketing can get confusing fast. You have to use a diverse mix of strategies if you hope to expand your reach and skyrocket profits, and it's not always clear what works.

Today, we want to share several effective eCommerce marketing strategies we've personally used this year to spark more sales. Based on our results thus far, we expect to continue using these techniques to grow our brand and build rapport with customers in the coming year.

Let's dive in!

Build Your Email List

Email marketing is one of the oldest and most powerful digital marketing strategies you have at your disposal. You have to spend plenty of time generating leads now if you want to build lasting relationships with your audience and turn them into customers.

The easiest way to build your list is by including a signup form on the sidebar of your website. If a visitor reads through your blog posts or is impressed by a product or service, they can subscribe to get the latest updates from your brand.

You can also create exclusive lead magnets for visitors. For example, you could offer your visitors an eBook, guide, or online course that helps them hone their skills and gain more industry knowledge. If your lead magnets are packed with value, people will gladly subscribe so they can gain access.

Once you've started building your list, create email campaigns designed to appeal to each segment of your audience. For example, an online jewelry store would likely create different lists for customers based on whether they purchased a watch, earrings, or bracelet. Because each customer has shown interest in a particular subset of products, you can create highly personalized offers that lead to more sales.

Optimize for Voice Search

By the end of 2022, experts predict that voice-activated shopping will bring in a whopping $40 billion. There are several reasons why more people are using their voices to shop. Notably, most smartphones come with the option to look for a product, service, or answer with their voice in seconds. It's also worth mentioning that around 55% of homes will have a smart speaker by the end of next year.

Now that you know why voice search is so important, let's talk about optimizing your online store for these users.

One thing that makes voice search drastically different from a standard Google search is natural language. We tend to say things differently than how we would type them. For example, you might ask, "Where can I find a pastry shop in Los Angeles?" Compare that inquiry with an average typed out Google search, "pastry shops near me," and you can see how a similar search can yield wildly different results.

Conversational content is a must if you hope to bring more people to your site and turn them into customers. When creating posts for your blog, building landing pages, and even writing product descriptions, use conversational language to talk to your customers. You'll have a much better chance at expanding your audience if your site is optimized correctly for people who use voice search to shop online.

Put Your Social Media Accounts on Display

Social media marketing is another powerful way to grow your business. Across all of the major networks, almost 4 billion people use social media every month. Aside from catching up with friends and family, many people use social media to engage with brands and buy products. In fact, research shows that 59% of people check their social media account when they want to find inspiration for their next shopping trip.

The best way to grow your social media following and website traffic is to make it easy for visitors to transition between both places. There are several easy ways you can accomplish this task.

You can get more people to visit your social media profile by including sharable links on your blog posts and product pages. If a user wants to show their peers a helpful piece of content, they should have the option to do so in one click.

We also suggest adding a social wall to your website. Social walls are essentially a compact version of your feed that's contained to the sidebar of your website. Now, visitors can see what you're saying on social media and check out user-generated content. As a result, many visitors will eventually land on your social media channel and follow your brand.

Reduce Cart Abandonment with Retargeting

Believe it or not, the average cart abandonment rate across all industries is 76%. It may seem hard to believe, but over 3/4ths of the people that add an item from your store to their shopping cart will not finalize their purchase.

The good news is if you have a strong cart abandonment strategy, you can recover quite a few of these potential customers.

The key to recovering lost sales is to connect with visitors who left without placing an order. You can choose to use email, social media, or other cookie-based retargeting ads to reach these potential customers.

We use email to reach out to people who've subscribed to our list, added an item to their cart, and didn't complete the checkout process. Our campaign for this scenario consists of three emails. One goes out an hour after they leave our site, the second goes out three days later, and finally, the last email is sent a week later.

You can skyrocket conversions using this strategy by adding a little personalization to your campaigns. For example, if someone decided to leave your online pet store after putting cat food in their shopping cart, a discount of 20% off all cat-related items could be enough to bring many of these people back to your eCommerce website.

Personalizing email subject lines and offers can boost your open rate by 26%. When people receive emails relevant to their actions or interests, they are more likely to click through and read what you have to say.

Use Chatbots to Enhance Customer Service

Finally, let's talk about your customer support channels. Many business owners think they have to choose between live chat and chatbots. I'm here to tell you that the best option is to use a mix of both strategies on your website.

Live chat is an excellent way to build rapport with your customers and deliver targeted help when a user has a particularly complex problem. However, it's not practical for businesses as their traffic and support tickets increase while your number of customer service representatives remains the same.

Chatbots, on the other hand, can help with your audiences' common questions and concerns. For instance, if someone wants to change some information on their profile, a self-service portal with a chatbot is the most effective way to resolve their issue.

The goal is to find a healthy mix between live chat agents and bots. You want to make sure your customers are getting the attention they need based on their specific problems. If you use this system to manage your support team, you'll cut down on support tickets, save your team time, and deliver a high-quality customer experience.

  1. 1

I think that an important aspect of ecommerce marketing (any field especially in the digital world) is analytics, focusing on which you can understand what is where and how best to sell. It is important to understand what and how your customers buy. This is a key aspect that is greatly underestimated
Especially if you have several sales channels (marketplaces + website + something else), it is very important to highlight the key one in order to properly and rationally allocate your resources and find the right approach to your customers
So there are a lot of auxiliary tools on the market for this, it is worth paying attention to beginners, since the cost is not very high, and the quality of services is good
