How to not sound like you're selling anything when you want to talk to people about your product 🤔
We all know how important it is to talk to customers to find out their problems.
The product I'm looking to build is in a two-sided marketplace, and on both sides I'm struggling to get responses - I feel like they might sound too 'salesy'. I don't actually think I'd reply to these emails either if I were in their shoes.
Does anyone have any tips? Are emails too old-fashioned? ✍️
This comment is so underrated. I have not figured out the best way myself yet. But the problem is you sounded like you're selling because you're selling. Think of sales as dating for second! Your question is how can I get a girl without sounding too thirsty? For both cases, the best answers is to get to know them and try to get their numbers (emails, I mean emails..) first. Have an excel spreadsheet or use a CRM tool, send emails in Bulk (I recommend HubSpot and MailChimp Combo for Email Marketing) and then build up. Once they go on your website, you can remarket your product using marketing tools like Facebook, Google Ads and others. Oh Man! It takes time..
There are different types of funnels you should look into to create standard processes for conversion and closing deals. One thing for sure, you will rarely close a deal from the first night unless they are drunk.
So once you figure out there is a whole process for this, you know you are definitely not gonna convert them now and probably never. You will sound much more relaxed and looking for answers and how you can help people rather than making them to do anything!
George, if you would meet a person and you would KNOW that the person you are talking to is looking for something that you have, and you would tell them about what you have, would you feel 'salesy'?
Now, if you would meet a person that you'd know nothing about and you'd do the same thing, would you feel different?
I definitely feel very different about the process when I'm just telling somebody that needs something that I have, working out together if this could be the solution that would work for them.
So, maybe if you could somehow confirm interest/need first and only channel you're in-depth sales to the hotter leads?
