Love this. "Make it stupidly small" is among one of my favorites

I love the advice to divide and conquer dread tasks. But I don't exactly like the idea of re-labeling them to things that sound less intimidating. Because in my opinion, dividing and conquering does the re-labeling job for you.

The task do your taxes soon gets converted into a multitude of different, smaller tasks, like:

    • check email and snail mail for tax documents
    • put all tax documents in the same place
    • search yelp for the nearest tax attorney with good ratings
    • email the tax attorney, requesting their services
    • if possible, ask tax attorney if you can simply load your tax documents onto their shoulders and let them handle the entire mess so you don't have to think about it
    • etc.

For sure. It's advice that is a) very simple, b) extremely effective, and yet c) not all that commonly followed.

I get the impression it comes more naturally to people with engineering experience?
