How to overcome the fear of sharing imperfect/unfinished work, while building in public?
Hello Indie Hackers community!
I'm looking for advice on how to build in public and overcome the fear of sharing unfinished or imperfect work.
I started to work on https://crossgrowth.io, a platform for showcasing and cross promoting newsletters, I recently launched the landing page while I'm still working on the first release of the product. I realized it took me ages to publish the landing page and I kept finding new things to fix or change, delaying the moment to release it publicly.
I wanted to detail all the steps in the creation process, but when I reach to the point to share something, I tend not to because I feel I don't have much to share or what I want to share is not so important. It also takes time to write and share a quality piece of content.
Do you have any tips or experiences to share, that can help me become more comfortable with embracing imperfection and showing my progress to others as I build my project?
For me, it was simply developing an understanding that everyone has to start somewhere. This can sound super cliche but you're bot going to succeed without some failures - and so imperfections are all just part of the journey!
I tend to I end up spending too much time one details and keep delaying posting or releasing something...
You could try setting yourself a hard deadline? Tell yourself that no matter how "finished" something is, you have to get it out there by X time/date
