Let's assume I am want to run a web service that is similar to YouTube, but charges people for every video (this is just to give some context). Now, while developing the service I reside in Canada, so once the service is released to the public I would register a sole proprietorship or a private corporation and start paying taxes in Canada, but what if later I want to move to the US or Finland or Japan. Who do I have pay taxes to? Country in which the company is registered, so Canada? Countries where the payments are coming from? US or Finland or Japan?
I guess it depends on the business and the laws of each country... ie. a site like youtube wouldn't need a license to work on many countries. But a service like uber would need to follow the laws of each city/country and probably pay taxes
Following.
I currently reside in Mexico but the company will be established in the US, and all revenue will go into a US bank. I'm assuming in that scenario - regardless of where the consumers live - that I'll only need to worry about US taxes. But I could be wrong.
I don't know about Mexico/US but usually if you spend more than 6 months in a country, you're a tax resident of that country. Even if your business is incorporated in another country, you are supposed to pay the taxes where the business is being controlled.
