Should you launch for a week? πŸ‘ or πŸ‘Ž

Previous week we launched Papermark.io - 5 days in a row.

It is an DocSend alternative to share documents and pitch decks and track results.

It is also Open Source.

Here launch week process and results:

Preparation:

  1. Checklists
  2. Places where to share
  3. Visuals
(Of course all core updates features you launch should be prepared in advance, not necessary new)

Which platforms we shared updates?

  • Product Hunt (1 day)
  • Twitter (every day)
  • Linkedin (everyday)
  • Reddit (every day)
  • Facebook (for specific groups and features)

Goal:

  • Increase awareness about Papermark

Main result:

  • 100k+ impressions on dif platforms
  • 500 signups
  • 5 customers
  • Trending on GiHub
  • 2/5 days we thought we will not deliver

The core challenge was on Wednesday and Thursday. We got super tired and thought we will not manage to push and delay launch on Wednesday. And on Thursday struggle to find energy, but we did, not ideal, but we did.

Learnings:

  • Even if you think all is ready to launch for the day, it does not mean it.
  • Things going not according to plan and you need to fix them
  • Features you bet can be valuable, can have no impact
  • People don't like updates fromcompany accounts, they like people
  • AI is not gonna solve all your problems

If you ask me, launch for a week or not?

I say yes, but put the goals, plan places you want to share, and hypothesises you want to test.

Focus not only on building features but on sharing, sharing and sharing.
