Hi!
I've been working on a set of CSS templates that can be used to customize various portions of the Gumroad UI - for example, the product cards, profile page, options, etc.
I have started with a couple of basic templates (see here: https://gumroad.com/l/css-templates) and in addition to that, I have created a set of 1220 templates (a combination of colors and styles) for the price tag on the product card.
I am wondering, how should I go about pricing this? I want to sell this as bundle that I might combine with other products later (for example, I am planning on creating a bundle of product card templates, profile pages). I haven't seen any Gumroad templates anywhere yet, so I think it might be an interesting avenue to pursue. I looked at Shopify templates as an example, but those are more like themes vs. individual templates and are priced at ~$160.
you just experiment with pricing, just as much as you do anything else!
price and see how the market responds! iterate after you get feedback. rinse, repeat!
Thanks!
I haven't heard about gumroad before, so not sure about the demand, but perhaps do like many ThemeForest people do, and have like demo sites where you can quickly switch between your themes.
Let people see/experience how amazing your themes are.
I would like @8bit suggests experiment with the pricing.
Thanks for your feedback, I'll check out ThemeForest!
Gumroad.com is a platform that allows people to sell products directly to users; they have a couple of built-in templates and the ability to provide your own CSS to customize it.
yeah. it is great! i don't use the custom css though.
Hey @peterj it would be nice to show a few more templates/examples on the Gumroad or maybe a website link where you showcase all the templates which you have created.
Regarding the pricing, there are a few websites which sell website templates as blocks so Navigation menu, footer, testimonials all separately but as cards (designs). You could check their pricing and see if it helps you.
Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, I am still in process of generating the templates and will add them on there (I also got gumroadtemplates.com, so I will probably showcase them there as well, however, I don't want to spend too much time on the webpage yet as I can use Gumroad as my landing page).
Thanks for that - I'll check that out. I am thinking that there are multiple ways to monetize these, either as separate components of the UI or as full-blown templates. I'll probably go with the full-blown templates I think and then have styles for separate UI components as add-ons. Thanks again!
Hey @peterj I just came across https://drrac.co/ randomly, it's basically a website which shows various carrd templates for future projects. Thought it might be useful to you to give you an idea for the Gumroad templates.
Hope it's useful :)
Nice work with the domain name :) You should definitely do some SEO work into the gumroad templates or at least check out with the keyword tool to see how many people search for similar keywords on a monthly basis.
Pricing full-blown templates and separate components of the UI is a good idea. Gives you a chance to experiment and tweak the offering accordingly.
On a separate note , since you mentioned about creating the website and not wanting to spend too much time. For the past four months, I've been creating a free resource for founders to write or improve their website text copy.
The resource consists of free to use ready-made text templates for each section of the website such as header, features, registration, contact etc. The text templates can be used directly or modified if required. Do let me know if you would be interested in trying it for your website? I'm currently building the website and planning to launch it next week.
