How to price and package sponsorship deal?

For those of you that are growing an audience and have a sponsorship deal, how do you figure out how much to charge? And what is your sponsor package offering?

If you charge a CPC or CPM rate, then this depends entirely on the type and quality of audience you have. So you could base it off a comparison to Google/FB ads. But you may offer brand awareness value beyond this too!

For the package itself, I imagine this is generally an ad placement with CTA on your homepage and the same at the bottom of your newsletter. But how do you provide more value to the sponsor?

There's only one rule and that's that there are absolutely no rules. Some companies won't be willing to pay $15. Some will be willing to pay $1500.

Judging from my own success in getting a sponsor for MarketingExamples, this is how I'd do it. But there's a million different ways.

    • Building relationships in real life is always going to have more value than cold emailing
    • Choose companies you love and send a bespoke emails to them explaining why its a good fit.
    • Focus on growing the site. If you're site offers value people will come to you
    • Put up a free sponsor in the meantime. That will seed it in people's heads that you take sponsorship and they'll be more likely to email.

This is solid advice - appreciate it Harry!

Guess I was looking for some kind of formula to justify the pricing, but in reality, that's not practical.

Congrats again on your success with Marketing Examples!! :)
