The nature of startups is such that growth hacking is an invaluable part of scaling. So it doesn't really matter how the economy is, founders must scale if they want to survive the super competitive startup industry.
Here are a few tips.
Use dynamic growth hacks like demand generation.
Demand Generation is key
Shift your marketing strategy to prioritize the creation of genuine demand and sales among your current customers and potential leads who have shown interest.
Rather than solely focusing on acquiring new leads, which might not result in conversions due to economic constraints, concentrate on tactics that engage and retain existing customers. Implement cost-effective methods like email drip campaigns, community building, and webinars to educate, nurture, and maintain customer relationships within your marketing funnel.
For instance, if you were building a conversion funnel for a product, a weekly X (Twitter) Spaces that is relevant to your target audience is a growth lever that demonstrates your understanding of the subject matter while giving you a chance to get real-time insights from your prospects. Each Space can end with a call-to-action that drives customers into a curated community (on WhatsApp or Slack) where you can nurture them with helpful content.
Finally, you can use an email drip campaign to retain customers and cross-sell products—65% of a company’s revenue comes from existing customers, highlighting the importance of cross-selling in retaining and growing business from current clients.

Good advice. Thanks!
You're welcome!
Its important to show up everyday and be consistent.
Very important. Especially when there's no motivation to. Creating self-check systems usually helps with showing up consistently.
Hey Irhose,
How would you change the marketing strategy if you are currently executing on a Product led growth instead of demand generation?
I would double down on SEO and value added services. For instance, let's say I own a tradetech like Norebase that helps entrepreneurs register their businesses in any country. I would create a value added product like a domain name search engine (seeing as people who want to register their businesses would need a domain name) to act as a product lever. Then I will build content around business strategy, expansion strategy, growth hacks, and dos and don'ts for entrepreneurs. My goal would be ro rank for at least 1 or 2 relevant keywords that can drive 5k to 10k visitors to my site. This is an extremely low cost way of getting qualified traffic down your marketing funnel. And with AI it's really easy to churn out tons of relevant content.
It's easier said than done. But it's definitely doable. If you'd like more information, feel free to reach out to me on Twitter @irhoseapori or book a free growth hack session at Calendly.com/irhoseapori
