How to sell no-revenue startup

Hi, my fellow hackers!

I worked for the last 3 years on a product that lets users compare the prices of fitness products (over 40k products).

The project generated ~7M EUR worth of outgoing links to webshops.
The startup has ~10k users and had an over 80% open rate for emails.
I raped marketing, but never focused on sales.

Had a few potential clients, after ~20 sales calls, got offers for 5x800EUR/mo contracts for sponsored positions on the site.

The thing is, never earned a penny, nor gave too much effort to monetization.

What would be the best place to sell such startup, and how'd you define the selling price?

That potential $4k/m for sponsored ads would rocket the valuation. Why don't you get that rolling and then sell?

Can you also not add affiliate links to those products?

I could get that rolling, but since I'm working on another product already, my time is very limited.

If you plan to sell, those points by @BitGonzo are very valid.

If you can't sell a lawnmower, you can't sell the lawnmower of the future. Mistake #6: Chasing a large number of customers before landing one.But let's say you're working with a startup… they might not even care about revenue. Let's face it, a lot of these “hot startups” are pretty vain.

This is a unique situation, it seems like you have quite a lot of traffic. Personally I wouldn't sell for $4,000 EUR. If you are incline to be a scumbag I'd suggest asking your potential buyers what they want to do with it, and then just doing it yourself.

Or try monetising it yourself somehow. I'd be happy to take a look and pitch you some ideas if you're interested.

Thank you! I'll get back to you later on email.

I didn't get an offer for 4k$, but that was potential revenue by clients, if I decided to pursue in that direction
