Get your startup ready to run mass email campaigns
At Arguflow, we are using mass-email campaigns to connect with our potential customer base and gauge product-market fit.
We ran into more than a few hurdles actually getting to a spot where we could run those campaigns and want to share our learnings with you all.
Steps:
- Buy two domains. One for internal and direct communications, one for mass-email campaigns. You do this to make sure you don't ruin the reputation of your primary domain when spamming out your marketing emails.
- Connect your mass-marketing email domain to mailgun, sendgrid or your own mail-server. Do this so you don't encounter limits when doing mass-campaigns.
- Add DKIM, DMARC, and SPF records to your domain. You can verify you do everything right here and get help at google toolbox . This is a very important step to making sure your emails don't go to spam or get blocked.
- Connect the account you created in step 2 to Apollo, Mailchimp, or some other service to coordinate your campaigns. StartupToolchain has a decent list of options.
- Run your emails through the mail-tester tool to make sure that they aren't too spammy looking to get blocked.
