How to tell if you're the bottleneck in your own company

The clearest sign I have found is not how busy you feel, it is how many things are stuck waiting specifically on you versus how many things the team is moving forward without you. Busy is easy to mistake for essential.

I started literally counting this a while back. If more than a small fraction of open decisions are stuck waiting on me alone across all three businesses, that is the signal something in how we delegate needs to change, not a signal to work more hours.

Anyone else measure this directly rather than just going by gut feeling of being overwhelmed?
