This is an interesting story that began around 2021 when I noticed many people around me starting to use TikTok. They recommended the product, and it was revealed that a similar product had achieved massive success in China. Upon researching, I found that the Chinese version of TikTok, Douyin, was filled with commercial content, using short videos and live streams for product promotion. In contrast, TikTok in the US had none of these business ecosystems, only basic ads. However, the focus of our discussion today is not on that. During my research, I discovered many Douyin-targeted tools, such as systems capable of managing numerous non-personal accounts, tools for monitoring growth data and keeping track of the latest market trends and influencers for potential partnerships.
Of course, I attempted to replicate these tools and software on TikTok. I started with the smallest model test and successfully ran it. However, during this process, I realized there are many differences; Chinese TikTok is a single market, where users only need to create Chinese content and all viewers can understand it. However, on TikTok, I needed to translate my content into different versions to serve a global audience. This gave rise to my upcoming product, GhostCut, which started as a tool to quickly convert videos into other languages. However, as fans and friends began inquiring about the tool I used, I discovered that it was, in fact, a popular demand that no existing product on the market could address.
