How to validate quickly if the ideal repeated usage of the product is 1-2x/year?

Hi fellow hackers!

I just recently watched a great talk on YC about growth - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T9ikpoF2GH0&t=774s

Gustaf briefly touched the topic of validating product-market-fit and brought examples on different ends of the spectrum. For some businesses, the ideal repeated use of their service is measured in days, for some it's months and in our case (as in Airbnb's), it's years.

How to iterate a solution validation faster than waiting to see if the user returns the next year if the expected optimal usage of the service is once/twice per year?

Thanks in advance!

If I use Airbnb as an example:

After someone completes their first stay, offer them a discount on their next stay that's only redeemable for the next X days.

Or offer them an annual subscription after their first stay, which gives them certain perks each year.

Great, play the "urgency" card and see if the experience was good enough to drive them to make a decision. Thanks for the advice!

    Ask them about their experience?

Communication is key, I agree. I was hoping to hear ideas on perhaps something more tangible.
