How to you record remote podcast?
How do you record with 2 or more quest, all while being completely remote? I know some use Skype or Google Hangouts. I've even seen some people use Squad Cast or Zencaster. If you do use a service like those, what features are they lacking?
FYI... This is for a product idea of mine. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
I use Zencastr. I experienced audio drift with it last year but it has not been an issue lately. I also ask guests to record locally using Quicktime or Audacity when possible as a backup.
I really like the product but my two main concerns with Zencastr are:
I have heard SquadCast addresses both of these issues so I have considered trying it.
From everyone I have talked to about this they recommend Zoom. You can record the call and it will split out all the individual guests into their own audio file too
In the past I've used both Anchor and Zencastr. Both have been intuitive and reliable.
We initially tried Zencastr and ran into major issues with audio drift. As far as I know, this is an issue with all browser-based recording platforms.
We now all join a Zoom call, everyone records their own track locally using Quicktime, and we use the Zoom recording feature as a fallback in case anyone loses their local recording (which luckily hasn't happened yet). It is a pretty clunky setup overall and I think there is a lot of room for innovation in this space.
I wonder if these applications need to be desktop applications. That seems to take the point out of it though. Did you have any other issues or things you would of liked to have with Zencaster?
Have you tried Anchor? I believe it has this feature
Some of our clients use Zencastr (and love it) while some use Zoom (and love that)
We'd recommend trying both out, and see which one makes editing easier for you/your editor and gives the best output!
