Hey Indie Hackers community!
Today, I’m here to share a story about unexpected twists, ear-to-the-ground feedback sessions, and using that to step up our game.
We launched Synced.so on November 22nd, a SaaS tool that seamlessly creates a Help Center using your Notion docs.
We had a vision: to simplify the way businesses create and manage their help documentation by using Notion.
Fast forward two months, and while we were slowly gaining traction with some awesome paying users (you know who you are, and we love you!), something completely unexpected happened. It was one of those moments that make you go, “Wait, what?”.
A bunch of our users started reaching out with a unique request. They loved the ease of building help centers through Notion using Synced.so, but they faced a challenge. Their existing help documentation? Let’s just say it was more of a rough draft than a polished guide. They needed more than just a tool; they needed crafted, well-researched help documentation.
This was a lightbulb moment for us. 💡
🌟 As it turns out, writing help docs is a special kind of skill. It’s not just about stringing together technical info. It’s about diving deep into UX, identifying where users hit roadblocks, and then translating complex solutions into easy-to-understand, helpful content.
Now, here’s the interesting part: we’ve been in these shoes before and we had experienced the same pain while making Help Centers for past projects.
Over time we gained extensive domain knowledge in creating these very types of documents. Talk about coming full circle, right?
Realizing this need was more common than we thought, we decided it was time for a pivot. Well, we’d like to call it expansion. We’re now not just a platform that integrates Help Centers with Notion; we’ve evolved into creators of top-notch, tailor-made help documentation.
This pivot expansion wasn’t in our original roadmap, but hey, that’s the beauty of the startup journey, isn’t it? You start with one idea, listen to your users, and sometimes end up with an additional 4.5k MRR :D
To all the fellow entrepreneurs and product builders out there, let our story be a reminder: stay flexible, listen to your users, and don’t be afraid to adapt. You never know where it might lead you!
Thanks for reading, and feel free to ask me anything! If you are interested in our service check us out here :)
This is a benefit of small team, you can pivot quickly
That's true! We can try things out rapidly and pivot accordingly when it works out :)
Congratulations ! Thanks for sharing your experience!
Thank you :D
