Hello,
Seems like most products are launched together with a new twitter handle. As I plan to launch soon, I'm wondering if this is a good time investment vs other marketing methods. From what I see a lot, it seems like people are creating these accounts just because (and I've been there).
Has anyone seen any practical benefits (like reaching new customers, product feedback) to having a twitter account on launch?
It's worth having one (because it takes 1 second to set-up) but I wouldn't expect much from it.
Especially, if you're launching a SaaS product with really no real relevance to Twitter. No-one cares about 95% of SaaS products Twitter accounts.
It's a bit different if Twitter is a big part of your product — like if you're in the education space. Like Wes Bos, Indie Hackers, Steve Schoger etc ... Because you actively want to grow the Twitter and it can be a huge marketing channel for you ...
I wish it took just one second to setup. The reality is after you create it, you need to invest a lot of time to get followers otherwise it will hurt you more than help.
Good point about SaaS products.
Twitter helped me a lot with my brand awareness and i use it daily in order to promote content and get visitors to my forum. However it takes time to get a good count of followers.
invest in a tool, seriously, and you can have outsized returns. the problem is that most folks don't make the commitment and so they get mediocre results. that's just a shame!
one thing i've done is to personally use my "business" twitter handle as if it were my own, thus blurring the lines between business & personal life.
this integration suits me though and it's much more engaging and fun. not a corporate bullshit account! in the early stages of a new project and startup, you
arethe startup. so, act like it on twitter. This comment was deleted 6 years ago
