Hey everyone,
Over the past weeks, I spent a ton of time learning and iterating on increasing engagement.
Just wanted to share 3 strategies that increased my newsletter open rate from 47% to 60%.
Hopefully, these tips can help you too!
For context:
I have been writing a niche newsletter for 20 weeks now.
It has grown organically to 2.000 subscribers
It provides in-depth trend analyses and niche business ideas I come across while working with successful startups.
Focus on Value 💰
I shifted the content to focus on the financial outcomes for our readers. Every piece needs to add clear value and potentially help the reader make money. You know what they say: People wanna get laid, they wanna get made, and they wanna get paid. This keeps our audience engaged and eager to open our emails.
Keep It Short 📏
I ruthlessly trimmed the fat and made our newsletters more skimmable. Long newsletters are great in theory but often end up in the “read later” pile. And we all the time we to look at that pile again - never. Short, to-the-point content is much more likely to be read immediately.
Deliver That Dopamine Rush 💥
Each email needs to provide a little dopamine hit—whether it's learning something new, gaining a fresh perspective, or feeling motivated. If readers walk away feeling good, they’ll keep coming back for more. Memes and trivia are great ways to achieve this too. I haven't played around with it, but I hear people using it with great success!
What strategies have worked for you in boosting open rates? Let’s share and learn together!
