How We Built an AI Email Campaign Planner That Saves Days

Creating a tool to help marketers effortlessly generate email marketing strategies was no small feat, especially for a team focused on simplifying email creation.

While many may not realize it, planning and strategizing are often the most significant hurdles in effective email marketing.

Our journey began when we noticed that our onboarding team was spending considerable time helping new users plan beyond one-off email campaigns. Most startups and small businesses were focused on short-term email promotions, often overlooking the need for a long-term strategy.

Despite providing white-glove service and education to each customer, we wanted to offer a solution that could benefit all businesses and startups. This led us to productize our method and create the AI Email Campaign Planner — a tool that generates a comprehensive email marketing strategy in minutes.

Here is how we made it possible.

During the development of the AI Email Campaign Planner, we dedicated countless hours to crafting and refining the tool. We started by leveraging our extensive library of email templates, guides, and flows, feeding them into GPT to generate industry-specific suggestions.

Although we experimented with advanced features like fine-tuning and embedding, we struggled to map them out effectively. To address this, we set up a process using Pipedream for prompt testing and data handling.

Initially, we planned to use Algolia for dynamic resource suggestions, but when that didn’t work out, we adapted by uploading all our data resources as JSON files to the GPT assistant.

From there on, we wrote detailed prompts and rigorously tested them to ensure they provided relevant and effective campaign strategies. We also implemented a feature that scrapes user-provided websites, allowing the tool to generate highly tailored email marketing strategies.

To validate our approach, we tested the tool on websites of well-known brands like SUGAR Cosmetics, Plix Life, HealthKart, Spotify, and many more. The results were exceptional, confirming that we were on the right path.
