Launching a product is hard. It’s much much harder when you are starting with zero audience.
Here is a breakdown on what worked, what flopped and what we are doing next. I’m sharing this because I know how hard it is to start from scratch. I’m hoping you can take what we’ve learned and apply it to your project!
*I’m also hoping you’ll upvote me on Product Hunt at the end if this is helpful ;)
My product is called Unsellable (unsellablenfts.com); it’s a service that helps NFT holders tax-loss harvest their NFTs that have become worthless and illiquid. We buy the NFTs for $0.01 in ETH so you can realize the loss and claim the deduction on your taxes, and we take a small service fee on the transactions.
We launched the second week of November, and 30 days later we had over 1,000 sales.
HERE IS WHAT WORKED:
By launching at the beginning on tax-loss harvesting season, people with large audiences were already talking about our core service. This organic chatter made our solution extremely sharable when someone found out about us. Had we launched in July, it would have been crickets.
NFT Holders live on Twitter so we hopped into as many Spaces as we could, commented, asked to speak, and added value, resulting in more attention than any amount of tweeting into the void could have.
A surprising number of people are willing to share. We’ve seen about 5% of people share their transactions on social media by clicking our simple share link. This adds up to thousands of free impressions!
We’ve partnered with crypto tax lawyers and tax software companies. They shared our service with their users/audience and we recommend their services in return. It’s a win for us, them, and the users!
We watched our Twitter DMs like a hawk and had live on site support 24/7 hooked up to our phones. If anyone had an issue, complaint or annoyance we were on it with a live person immediately. In an age of chatbots, this has blown people away and created massive advocates willing to help us spread the word.
It can be painful at times, but tweeting 3x a day, 2x Threads a week, and replying to 10+ tweets a day from large accounts slowly but surely grows your followers, but more importantly your credibility for people who want to research your brand.
HERE IS WHAT DIDNT WORK:
We found out the hard way that most big accounts are mainly followed by Bots and we legit got scammed out of some ETH twice! Lesson learned: if someone offers something too good to be true, it always is.
