How we got 500+ beta users with 1 tweet?

The tweet that led ZenInbox.com to have 500+ beta users:

4 reasons why the tweet worked so well:

  • Our video caught everyone's eyes with people asking us how we made it. If you go check it out, you'd see it covers everything about the product from why, what, how

  • Clear, short pitch "We are building a better inbox for reading newsletters" in the first tweet with more explanation (with features) on the second tweet

  • Call to action "If you ♥️ reading newsletters, subscribe → http://zeninbox.com" in the first tweet. Asking people explicitly to subscribe helps.

  • Encouraging people to RT and show support, and asking them to tag friends who love reading newsletters (our core audience)

Here is a breakdown of the tweet performance:

  • 74 RTs
  • 23 Quote tweets
  • 35K + impressions
  • 9100+ media views
  • 3400+ total engagements
  • 580 beta subscribers 🙌🏽

That's some nice copywriting. If you could push this to newsletter creators so they promote this as an "alternative way to view our newsletter", that would be a nice avenue for growth.

That's a cool idea, thank you. We are currently curating newsletter creators for our discovery page, and I was planning on reaching out to them with a similar premise and hoping to get ZenInbox featured eventually in their newsletters. But your suggestion, if it works, could be even more attractive and lead to consistent traffic coming our way. I'd let you know what comes of it.

We were also thinking of probably using merch sent out to popular newsletter creators once we onboard them (slightly costlier approach but we felt could be worth trying). Do you reckon that could be an interesting angle as well?

Thanks Janel. It means a lot :) I'm excited to get BrainPint in my Zen Inbox soon. And good luck with Pheedback. Would've used it if I had access to it before

Wow! Those are some great traction numbers. How has the response been from creators? Have you see any inbound interest, because this has potential to help new creators find their audience?

      Hi 👋🏽 Thanks a lot.

Some interest from investors and creators both asking us to think about building creator side tools. Currently, talking to them and figuring out what could be opportunities.

I’m glad you could see this to be a platform for creators to find their audience. We’ll definitely take a detailed look over this premise

hey cool, a question: how many followers did you have at that point in time, when the tweet was sent?

    1. 1

I think I had around 1380 followers. Not too much, so posting at a good time also helped - we found out that Mondays after 9 am EST is a popular time for achieving high engagement and we went ahead with it. It also coincided with my home base Indian audience's evening so we got them engaged as well.

Sounds like a great app - I've been hesitant to sign up for newsletters given the sheer volume at this point and am looking for a newsletter solution :)

This is cool. Can you tell us the tools you used for creating the video?

Thanks Aditya, we went ahead with StoryCreator app from @storycreator Check them out
