How we got to $1.3k ARR with Newsletters to Kindle

Hey Indie Hackers,

We're two friends and have launched Newsletters to Kindle. It lets people send their favorite newsletters to their Kindle automatically.

We wanted to share how we grew it from 0 to +$1.3k ARR in a 4 months. It was mainly through 3 things:

• Commenting and providing value on relevant threads on Twitter:
  • For example, my comment on this Tweet from James clear got 11,500 impressions and a few hundred website visits. You can see I'm providing value by recommending another product, not only Newsletter to Kindle.
• Referral: Before building this product, I just wanted this product for my personal use. To look for it, I searched on Google "Newsletters to Kindle". The first result for this query is an article explaining how you can do this using a workaround and combining a few tools. I reached out to the author and told him about Newsletter to Kindle. As a result, he included a link to Newsletter to Kindle on the said article.
• Twitter auto follow: We set up a twitter account, scrapped the followers of accounts we thought are relevant (like Readwise, Ben Thomson, etc) and then auto followed these people. We use for this Phantombuster.
  • I realize this practice might be frowned upon, but hey full transparency here. Also, we didn't do that on a big volume, only on relatively small accounts where we thought it might be relevant for these followers to know about Newsletter to Kindle.
