As an entrepreneur, I've always believed in embracing change. And in 2025, marketing and lead generation are changing faster than ever before.
There are many different reasons for this. Preferences for different types of content, AI, and the explosion of social media have all fundamentally changed the way people and businesses interact, and there's no sign of this slowing down.
If you want to thrive, you need to pay attention to these changes and start finding ways to adapt.
That's why I've been reevaluating our approach to make sure we stay ahead of the curve, and I want to share what we've learned with you.
Today, I'll show you seven strategies we're focusing on to generate more leads for our brands in 2025. I believe these lead generation strategies will be crucial for driving sales in building rapport with our customers.
I'm happy to share some of our focal points, and I hope they inspire you and your business.
Let's dive in!
The cold, hard truth is dry, corporate-style content isn't quite as valuable as it once was. People want to read things written by other people. They want to hear about their hands-on experience, learn from their mistakes, and read articles that are conversational and engaging.
With that in mind, we've prioritized interweaving personal stories into our content. We encourage our writers to write articles in first-person and talk about things they've learned along the way as they relate to the articles they're writing. This kind of stuff resonates with readers and helps them understand the value of your content.
Here's another way to think about it: the more relatable you are, the more you're trusted. People who trust you are more likely to sign up because they're interested in what else you have to say.

If you want to adopt this strategy, here are some takeaways for indie business owners:
Places like Reddit and Quora are full of leads if you know how to connect with people in a way that's friendly and helpful.
Over the last few months, we have focused on answering questions, taking part in discussions, and adding real value to our brand profiles without trying to sell our products. We've found that this has helped us build trust and credibility over time within the communities, which has ultimately led to organic traffic and more signups.
For example, since we operate in the WordPress space, it makes sense for us to engage with the WordPress subreddit and provide advice whenever community members are facing problems. That authentic, value-first approach netted us much more website traffic, where users clicked through naturally to learn more about who we are and what we offer.
Video has become a powerful way to connect with audiences, so we've made it a key part of our strategy. Short, engaging videos on platforms like Instagram, YouTube, and X allow us to reach a wider audience, while longer-form tutorials and webinars help us educate and convert leads.
Put plainly, we create different types of videos for people depending on where they are in our sales funnel.
Overall, there's no question that videos capture attention quickly and help us communicate complex ideas more effectively than text alone. From a statistical standpoint, 82% of marketers who've embraced video marketing say it has resulted in more website traffic.
We recently launched a series of short, snappy explainer videos tackling broad email marketing problems that our audience faces. These performed exceptionally well, with a higher engagement rate than our traditional blog posts. The visual format made it easier for viewers to absorb and act on the information. They also helped us reach people who otherwise wouldn't know we exist.
You'll be happy to know that the process doesn't have to be overwhelming for an indie business owner. Start with simple tools and really concentrate on creating short, impactful videos that address a very specific challenge or pain point; then, gradually expand. If you're ever in doubt, read comments and ask for feedback so you can see what type of videos your audience wants to see.
Collaborating with other brands has allowed us to form partnerships with companies and individuals who share our audience, which is a surefire way to reach people who've never heard of us.
We've co-hosted webinars, sponsored giveaways with our affiliates, worked on written content together, and much more.
My best advice here is to look for brands that align with both your values and target audience. For example, a company selling headphones might partner with a game streamer, while a makeup company would probably work with a fitness and lifestyle influencer.
You'll also want to start the partnership on a short-term basis. Do a few independent projects together before you jump into a long-term contract.
I've found that cultivating long-term relationships is essential to generating leads and growing our business, so this is one tip you don't want to skip.
We've discovered that giving potential customers hands-on tools they can use right away works better than traditional lead magnets like email courses or ebooks. That's why we're focusing on building interactive content that solves real problems for our visitors.
Let me share what's working for us:
First, we created a simple free headline analyzer tool. Visitors enter their proposed headline, and within seconds, they get a detailed report about their headline, including what works, what doesn't, and how to improve.
Then, we encourage people to sign up so they can get access to new tools and content as they are released. If the headline analyzer helped them, they usually end up signing up! We've also built SEO checklists, domain name tools, and much more to help our target audience and convince them to sign up for the latest updates.
You can actually try this strategy for yourself. Here's a quick rundown on how to get started:
You don't need anything fancy at first. Even a basic calculator or assessment tool built with simple web forms can work wonders. If it's valuable to your audience, they'll likely become leads.
AI has transformed how we approach outreach for the better. We've started using these tools to analyze customer behavior and create customized, scalable marketing messages and campaigns. This approach has allowed us to build stronger relationships with potential leads without overwhelming our team.
For instance, we are seeing big promise with AI-driven segmentation because it has helped us narrow down existing segments and identify specific groups within our email list with content that matched their needs, which increased open rates and engagement as the recipients felt that the content was tailor-made for them.
My advice for you is to start small by using AI tools to speed up some of your existing outreach processes. Slowly work your way up to bigger tasks as you get more comfortable.
There's no doubt plenty of potential with AI and building rapport with prospects, but I've found it's still very important to keep a human touch even when scaling your efforts. With that in mind, review your emails and other types of outreach so you can be sure they look good and resonate with your audience.
Voice search is changing how people find information online, and we've adapted by focusing on reworking our SEO strategy. As I mentioned earlier, using conversational language and natural phrasing in our content has become essential.
But we also create FAQs, use long-tail keywords, and include concise answers at the top of our post so it's most likely to get discovered by voice assistants.
For instance, we recently reworked some of our blog content to include more natural question-and-answer formats, which has improved our ranking for voice queries. These adjustments ensure we're capturing traffic from users relying on devices like smart speakers or voice-enabled search.
If you're not optimizing for voice search, now is the time to start. Consider how your audience might phrase their questions verbally and adjust your content accordingly. The goal is to make it easy for voice search users to find and engage with your business.
