Hey IndieHackers,
I wanted to share how we validated our idea for Teamcamp, a project management tool, without writing a single line of code initially.
The Hypothesis:
We saw that many teams were frustrated with complicated, bloated PM tools that made simple tasks feel overwhelming. We suspected there was a need for a leaner, user-friendly option that focused only on essentials.
Our Validation Process:
30+ team interviews to understand real pain points (not assumed ones)
Landing page testing with clear value props to collect interested emails
Clickable prototype to gather feedback before any development
Free early access waitlist to test genuine demand vs. casual interest
This approach helped us avoid building features nobody wanted and saved months of development time.
What We Learned:
Teams wanted fewer features, not more (counterintuitive!)
Client transparency was a bigger pain point than we realized
Landing pages with specific benefits > generic "better PM tool" messaging
Early users became our best evangelists and feature validators
Now 6 months later, we're at $4.2k MRR with 847 active teams - all because we validated first.
Currently exploring ideas for our next feature set. If anyone wants to peek at our validation process: https://www.teamcamp.app/
What is your best validation hack that saved you from building the wrong thing?
If you also facing issue like this juggling too many tools , you can share your problems here in comments we discuss and find real solution
