How Websites Die

It's fascinating how domain names change hands, and the in the process the history and existence of past applications are completely erased, with no sign they ever existed.
It reminds me almost of that famous scene in 1984, where the State is able to make it so a person doesn't exist anymore by just removing them from their directory. Now, the internet equivalent is different. Obviously there are still links and whatnot related to the deleted site. But people seem to move on quite quickly when a new site takes the spot of an old one.
Saw this post on HN too...no biggie.
The most common thing I see is people buying defunct sites and then just redirecting them towards a new site, hoping to get the people who were headed to that site onto their new one. I doubt it works, but what do I know?
Websites should just stop working once the creator dies. I'd only let them continue on if the website owner explicitly has a plan in mind to continue the project.
Yeah, You are right. As most of the people also don't plan before starting any website. Now if I explain so before starting my construction related site which is https://proqm.com.au/concrete-inspection-melbourne/ . I did a brief research upto 3 months. Then we choose a proper domain name. And planned all the things for the next 2 years. Even we have planned that which content will be published on which date. And what will be our next move. So doing such kind of research and proper planning will never results in die of website. But if you start a website without any planning and research so that will ultimately become die.
