How/when are you preparing for Manifest v3?
Happy NY! 2021 will bring Manifest V3 to Chromium browsers. It's already available on Chrome's M88 beta channel: https://blog.chromium.org/2020/12/manifest-v3-now-available-on-m88-beta.html
Are there any V3 features you're looking forward to? What work-arounds are you putting in place for the new limitations?

There's no Manifest V2 end date yet, but according to the blog post, it should be about 1 year after V3 hits stable

I think the big two incompatibilities that I've been thinking about are background pages being replaced with service workers (which I don't know much about) and not being able to execute remote scripts in extensions. But not really thinking too hard about those until we get a release date.
Not yet. Let it go mainstream first because otherwise you need to support v2 as well as v3 for your users.
When it becomes stable & they're finally removing v2 from Chrome Web Store, then start updating it to v3. Chrome Web Store sends emails regularly to you if your extension is on v2 :)
I think some of the parts, e.g., not using remote code and not using a persistent background page (as @Glench mentioned) are also supported by Manifest V2.
So could start making those changes without having to ship Manifest V2 and V3 at the same time
I suspect most people on IH aren't going to be impacted by the changes to the network request APIs that are endangering ad blocker/privacy extensions. However, if you are, those would be existential threats to the extension
